Belgaum Golf Association: A Legacy of Golfing Prestige

At the Belgaum Golf Association, we proudly present the Desur Golf Course and Club, our premier 18-hole, par-72 golf course spanning 7200 yards, setting a new standard for golfing excellence in the Northern Karnataka-Goa region. This first-of-its-kind establishment boasts a Championship Course and all greens and tees are meticulously built and maintained as per USGA specifications, equipped.

Located amidst the serene Deccan plateau and close to the majestic Western Ghats, the course is strategically situated within a two-hour drive from key locations such as Goa, Kolhapur, and Hubli offering conveniently accessible destinations for golfers and tourists alike, course promises an exceptional.

The Desur Golf Course and Club is distinct for its accessibility, being the only public golf course in this region. We aim to provide an environment where both experienced golfers and newcomers can engage with the sport.

At BGA, golfing is complemented by the surrounding natural beauty of Northern Karnataka-Goa, offering a unique setting for the game.

BGA Tour: A Series of Elite Golfing Events

The BGA Tour, hosted by the Belgaum Golf Association, offers a series of annual golf events for players. These events, held throughout the year, are designed to cater to a variety of skill levels, providing participants an opportunity to engage in competitive play on some of the region's finest courses. The focus is on fostering a community of golf enthusiasts and facilitating memorable experiences in a distinguished setting.

The Beginning

A Legacy Born from Passion and Community Endeavor

The origin of the Belgaum Golf Association (BGA) is rooted in Belgaum's historic connection to golf, dating back to the British era. Founded in 1997 by local enthusiasts, the BGA was established to promote golfing in the region and to explore the creation of a public course. In 2001, a significant milestone was achieved with the acquisition of 168 acres from the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC).

The project work for a golf course was swiftly energized and in less than a year, an 18 hole golf course was made ready to begin playing with "Browns" instead of "Greens". Subsequently, all the "Browns" were converted into "Greens" and today there is full fledged Golf Course with all requisite facilities. It is imperative to mention at this point that this golf course has "arisen" more out of "will power" than the wealth and it is now an achievement of immense value for the citizens of North Karnataka and Goa. There is more work to be done to bring this golf course to international standards.
